Baked Canoe🇵🇷


4 to 8 ripe plantain

1 pound of ground meat, chicken

1 tablespoon of Sofrito

1 packet of Sazon with achiote

2 1/2 tablespoon of tomato sauce

1/2 cup of water

1 teaspoon of oregano

1/2 packet of chicken powder

1/2 teaspoon of garlic

1/2 teaspoon adobo

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup of diced orange peppers

1/4 cup of diced onions

Mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese

Olive oil spray for the plantain.


(We start by preparing the plantain first since they go to the oven for 35 to 40 minutes at 400F.)


Remove the peel from the plantain and on the part that has the canoe wave make a cut in the curve, deep without going over to the other side. Return the plantain to the peel as you are going to cook them in the oven. Use olive oil to spray the plantain and the pan where you are going to put them. This is optional.

Cook for 35 to 40 minutes at 400F depending on your oven.

To find out if they are done, use a fork and if it comes out clean they are good to eat.


In a deep frying pan or pot, pour the meat and cook it over medium-low heat, stirring so that it is loose. When it is cooked, add the sofrito, oregano, garlic, seasoning, chicken powder, adobo, tomato sauce, salt, pepper and water. Be sure to try everything and fix it to your liking.

Cook for 10 minutes and add the peppers and onions, cover and continue cooking over medium-low heat for 15 minutes or until the peppers and onions are soft.

Now we going to prepare the canoe add them on a pan or mold and open the part where the cut is and fill it with the meat and cover it with the cheese. You can use any cheese of your choice.

Once filled, put it back in the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.

You can add lettuce and tomato on top of them but this is optional.

It tastes delicious and it is healthier!
